Mystic Being (aka Meagan Starke) is a plus-size cosplayer, streamer, content creator and social media personality that loves anime, pokémon and travel. She has built up a large following on social media since 2020, a total of more than 7 million followers.
In many ways, her career has changed over the years. She no longer works in her old job, has bought her first home and made her creative pursuits a profession. Mystic Being has had a lot of experiences of finding new interests and how to share them with an audience.
How Her Social Media Career Took Off
In 2020, Mystic Being started creating content, and the first platform where she gained widespread attention was TikTok. Before becoming a full-time content creator, she still worked at a job that paid less than $500 every two weeks.
Eventually, social media provided her with an opportunity to explore a different career. She started to build her online presence and gain followers across various social media platforms. Other interests were added to her content, as well, including streaming, cosplay, anime, Pokémon, and travel.
That growing audience became the foundation of her creator business. The business currently has a monthly revenue of more than $100,000. The number represents business revenue, not her personal take-home pay or profit. Mystic Being reached two important milestones: leaving her previous job and purchasing her first home. They showed how much her life had changed since she began making content.

Discovering a Love for Cosplay
Mystic Being got into social media in 2020, and discovered cosplay in 2021. She enjoyed dressing up as the characters she loved and experimenting with different looks. This newfound interest became a central part of her online content. So far, she has cosplayed over 100 characters!
She has also brought to life many characters, such as the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Bride of Frankenstein, Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Marvel Rivals version of Emma Frost. She isn’t restricted to one type of character or one sort of entertainment. Her openness to portraying characters that some might not expect her to choose has helped her to explore different creative ideas.
More Than Seven Million Followers Across Platforms
Another big achievement for Mystic Being is her combined audience of over 7 million followers across her social media platforms. She has been producing content since 2020, and since then her audience has grown, while her content has covered multiple interests rather than a single category.
She still creates cosplay content, and she also streams, shares her interest in anime and Pokémon, and posts about her travels. This enables her to share different interests and continue to produce content about her favorite subjects. She has also been working on developing her creative abilities. In 2023, she started to craft some of her own cosplay costumes, adding costume-making to her creative work.
Finding Success Without Avoiding Challenges
Mystic Being has also faced criticism as a plus-size cosplayer. She has received negative comments from people who believe her body type should prevent her from cosplaying certain characters.
One notable example came after sharing her cosplay of the Marvel Rivals version of Emma Frost. Thousands of hateful comments about her size were posted in response to her transformation.
Despite these comments, she chose to focus on the people who supported her work rather than letting the criticism stop her from cosplaying. She continues to cosplay, explore new characters and share her work online.
These experiences have also reinforced her message to other cosplay enthusiasts: that cosplaying your favourite characters doesn’t require you to be a certain size or wear a perfect outfit.
What Comes Next for Mystic Being?
Though Mystic Being has portrayed more than 100 characters, she still has more characters she wants to explore.
She would like to further develop her costume-making skills, continue streaming and sharing her passion for anime and Pokémon, and continue sharing her travel experiences with her viewers. She also hopes to pursue relevant collaborations in cosplay, entertainment, gaming, travel and content creation.
This journey from a low-paying job to a creator business has given her greater financial stability and new opportunities. As she continues to pursue her career, she wants to preserve the enjoyment she finds in creating content. Turning her creative interests into a full-time career has been a major milestone for Mystic Being. This creativity remains a part of her work.
