Even Realities is set to unveil its latest innovation, the G2 Display Smart Glasses, complemented by a new device known as the R1 Smart Ring, which will function dually as a controller and health tracker. The G2 glasses represent an upgraded model from the original G1 version, allowing users to interact without physically touching the frames or relying on voice commands, thanks to the ingenious design of the R1 ring.
- Enhanced Optical Features: The G2 is equipped with an improved HAO optical engine, which integrates micro-LED projectors, waveguides, and digitally surfaced lenses. This technology maintains the signature bright green text while enhancing depth and clarity. For instance, pop-ups like AI prompts and notifications can now appear at different visual depths, preserving context for users while reading.
- Broader Prescription Support: With the G2, Even Realities expands its accessibility by supporting a wider range of prescription lenses, accommodating users with prescriptions from -12 to +12 diopters.
- Design Improvements: Compared to its predecessor, the G1, the G2 boasts 54 percent slimmer temples, and for the first time, features an IP67 rating, which denotes resistance to dust and water. Battery life has also been enhanced, now lasting two days compared to the G1’s one and a half days, with the charging case capable of providing up to seven full charges.
The G2 glasses can still be operated via a built-in touchpad or voice commands; however, the R1 Smart Ring adds a new layer of convenience, enabling interaction without the need for arm movement. Made from ceramic and medical-grade stainless steel, the R1 features a flat touchpad that facilitates navigation. Additionally, it includes a heart rate sensor and an accelerometer, allowing users to monitor their heart rate and steps, visible directly on the G2 display.
While not as sophisticated as the Neural Band Meta found in the Meta Ray-Ban display glasses, the R1 appears to provide a discreet and functional means of controlling the smart glasses while also serving as a health tracking device.
Even Realities is also launching a new AI feature alongside the G2 and R1. Similar to its earlier model, the G2 supports translation, notifications, and teleprompter functions. However, it introduces a unique skill called “Conversate,” which aims to deliver AI-generated insights during conversations. This feature can provide context, explanations, and follow-up questions, culminating in a comprehensive summary and key points after discussions. While this may seem somewhat overwhelming, the feature may require a hands-on demonstration to fully appreciate its capabilities.
Despite the G2 glasses and R1 ring offering enhanced convenience, they come with a notable learning curve, as they aim to introduce more complexity compared to the previous generation. Unlike Meta’s glasses, which are designed as phone alternatives, Even Realities’ products position themselves as helpful tools rather than replacements for existing devices.
Consumers can now place orders for the Even G2 Display Smart Glasses and the Even R1 Smart Ring, priced at $599 and $249, respectively. For those purchasing the G2 glasses, Even Realities is offering a limited-time promotion: a 50 percent discount on the R1 and other accessories.
