Starting a business is a big achievement for many entrepreneurs, but maintaining one is the larger challenge. There are many standard challenges that face every business whether they are large or small. It is not easy running a company, especially in a fast-paced, ever-changing business world. Technology advances, new hiring strategies, and now, political changes coming with the new administration, all add to the existing business challenges that entrepreneurs, business owners, and executives have to deal with.
Maximizing profits, minimizing expenses and finding talented staff to keep things moving seem to be top challenges for both SMBs and large corporations. We have been interviewing companies from around the world to discover what challenges they are facing in their businesses. We also asked each company to share business advice they would give to a younger version of themselves.
Below is our interview with GG Benitez, Founder and CEO at GG Benitez & Assoc. Public Relations, Inc.:
What does your company do?

What is your role? What do you enjoy most about your role?
I am the founder of GG Benitez & Associates Public Relations Inc. As a seasoned strategist for media placement, branding, personality management, and celebrity/influencer programs, I have built a reputation for enjoying helping clients realize their full business potential while supporting their vision and goals.
A graduate of UCSD with a degree in Economics (1995), I enjoyed a highly successful career in outside sales before launching her my own brand of trademarked onesies in 2005– which I had landed in every major media channel and placed directly into the hands of celebrities. While my brand was a flourishing success, I found I felt a real passion for public relations – and have since continued to develop and manage public relations campaigns for others with the same amount of perseverance, enthusiasm, and intuition.
Having previously been on the corporate, sales and client sides of the business, my approach includes personalized attention, sharp communications skills, and a hand-selected team of pr specialists to support my hands-on efforts. I employ both traditional and innovative public relations tactics to command the results that has made GG Benitez PR so successful. I maintain a track record of garnering consistent, valuable media impressions on national and local levels in print, broadcast and online outlets. I also am passionate about nurturing sincere, solid relationships with many of today’s top influencers, our clients, and the media.
What are the biggest challenges in your business right now?
Our biggest challenge right now in the PR industry is proving the value of PR. When the term “ROI” seems to focus so much on a dollar for dollar return on investment, much education has to be placed on setting up the proper expectations with potential clients about how to evaluate the ROI for PR, and what that entails outside of just immediate financial gains.
If you could go back in time, what business advice would you give to a younger version of yourself?
I believe one of the most difficult challenges I faced both then and now is how not to personalize situations. Whatever career I have been in, I always dive in with heart and mind, keeping myself vulnerable to others in business who are capable of dividing the two. If I could go back, I would have worked harder at a younger age to be more objective, and move on quicker after failures, understanding that it is with each fall that I was able to rise tall!
